I had this problem on my toshiba Sat Pro C - the wireless was still working but I lost access to the 5ghz network. I managed to find some working drivers on the atheros-driver website before they were taken down presumably a lot of people have had problems after the update. That website was one of the ones I was not sure about but I will take a driver from there next time I am at my sister-in-laws and see how it goes. I'll report back here. Did you ever get this resolved? I have an issue but slightly different, when i connect to certain routers it just loses dns, drops out and randomly disables it self.

It seems that her Atheros network adaptor was not compatible. Qualcomm do not update their drivers, they say this is the manufacturer's responsibility.
